Finance Lab
Privacy & Terms
Effective 19 September 2026
1. What Kid Finance Lab is
Kid Finance Lab is an educational money-learning service used through Adult accounts and Child profiles. It helps Children practise saving, spending, cash withdrawals, goals, regular household costs and other everyday money choices.
2. Virtual money only
Balances shown in the service are learning and organisation records. Kid Finance Lab does not hold, transfer, safeguard or redeem real money and is not a bank or payment account. Adults remain responsible for any real money represented in a Lab.
3. Labs, Adults and Children
One Adult account may belong to more than one Lab. A Lab may contain more than one Adult and more than one Child. The Lab owner can invite other Adults and can limit an invited Adult to selected Child profiles. Children do not need email accounts and use a Child code and PIN.
4. Child-friendly learning
Household Bills are an educational simulation to explain that homes have regular running costs. They are not rent, debt or money owed by a Child. Health, medicine, safety, care, everyday meals and basic Child needs are presented as Always Free.
5. Information used to provide the service
The service may store Adult names and email addresses, secured password hashes, Lab membership, Child profile names, secured PIN hashes, virtual balances, receipts, goals, Stars, pet and game progress, billing entitlements and security/audit records required to operate the service. Readable Adult passwords and Child PINs are not stored.
6. Email verification, account recovery and invitations
Adult email addresses are verified before a new Lab can create its first Child or change paid Child access. Adult email addresses are also used for password recovery and Adult invitations. Verification, reset and invitation links are time-limited. Children do not use email recovery; an authorised Adult can set a new Child PIN.
7. Free and paid Child access
The first Child created in a Lab receives free access. Additional Children may require paid access. Current public pricing is £2.00 per additional Child each month or £20.00 per additional Child each year. A paid entitlement is attached to the relevant Child for the billing period and cannot be freely reused by different Children during that same period.
8. Cancellation and inactive profiles
Cancelling a recurring plan stops future renewal according to the checkout provider's terms. Access normally continues until the end of the paid period. When paid access ends, the Child profile is frozen rather than erased: history, balances, goals, Stars and pet progress remain saved unless the account holder separately requests deletion where available.
9. Security
Adults should keep passwords private and choose Child PINs that are not easy to guess. We use essential session cookies, hashed credentials, scoped Adult access and tamper-evident activity records as part of the service security model. No internet service can promise absolute security.
10. Payments
Where card payments are enabled, payment processing is handled by the payment provider shown at checkout. Kid Finance Lab does not need to store full card details in the application.
11. Availability and educational limits
We aim to keep the service available and accurate, but uninterrupted access cannot be guaranteed. Kid Finance Lab is not a substitute for bank statements or official financial records and does not provide financial, legal, tax or investment advice.
12. Children and Adult responsibility
Kid Finance Lab is designed to be configured and overseen by Adults. Adults are responsible for deciding whether the service is suitable for a Child, for the accuracy of learning balances they enter, and for any real-world money or rewards they choose to provide.
13. Contact
Questions about privacy, account access or the service can be sent using the contact details published with Kid Finance Lab.
